Wrestling at this high level isn’t without its risks! Falling the wrong way, getting piledriven on a steel chair, falling off a ladder; there are countless ways a player can get Injured. When a player becomes Injured, they Tap-Out any one Move card they have in play. That Move’s bonus will not apply in the player’s next or current match, but still counts towards determining their Tier.
Developer’s Notes
Injuries can happen in many ways: the Injured Angle card, a Sneak Attack, being hit by a Weapon, being Squashed, or losing badly in your special match at a Pay-Per-View.
Only players can be injured, and they can only have 1 injury at a time. When a player becomes injured, they must Tap-Out one Move. That move’s bonus will not factor into their match (or as a Run-In bonus for another player’s match), but that bonus is still used in calculating their Rank to determine their Tier.
If you discard your tapped-out move, you are no longer considered injured, and could become injured again. If you have no Moves to Tap-Out, the injury has no effect.
If you want to allow multiple injuries, use a new variation, Ooh, That’s Gotta Hurt!
How long does an injury last? Like the text on the Injured card states:
The target is Injured until the end of their next Event or Match, whichever comes first.
If the injury occurs before your turn or during a your Roll Call or Drama phase and then you wrestle a match (not Enjoy the Show), the injury will resolve during your Jobber Security Phase, which satisfies the “end of their next match” provision.
If the injury happens during your match or any time thereafter, the injury will resolve during the next event – either after the match, if you have one, or after your Jobber Security Phase if you decided to Enjoy the Show.
Weapon Injury
Most Weapons have a chance to injure a player. When a player is the target of a Weapon and it has an injury rating listed at the bottom, the player that issued the Weapon into the match rolls for injury. If the result matches any of the injury ratings on the card, the player becomes injured. This roll is usually made after the DQ risk is resolved. If the DQ risk results in a DQ of any form, the Injury roll is still made. If a Weapon is stopped, neither roll is made.
If a player is hit with a Weapon and becomes injured, but then they play a card or ability that changes the target of the Weapon that caused the injury, the injury will resolve as if it never happened.
Losing so bad, it hurts
Sometimes, you’ll walk away from a loss with more than wounded pride. If you lose a standard match by more than 10 points, the match is a Squash and you become injured. Likewise, if a special match, that’s part of a Feud at a Pay-Per-View, has a provision that lists
If you lose by 5+, become Injured.
you will become injured if you lose by the number listed or more points.
If you lose by more than 10 points in this scenario, you will get squashed, but if you’re following standard rules, you won’t be injured a second time.
Sneak Attack!
A sneak attack happens either when the Sneak Attack Drama card is played during the active wrestler’s Interview or if an Antagonist triggers their 2 Crowd Point ability. In both instances, the player target of a sneak attack becomes injured.
