Developer’s Notes

The Of 1,000 Holds gimmick was inspired by grapplers and technicians that could twist and toss you 15 ways into next Tuesday. This gimmick pairs well with Technicians and Grapplers because those Styles get either the Strong or Average move bonus for the moves this gimmick specializes in.

When this Gimmick is in play, it adds 2 Crowd Points to the Event Pool during event setup.

Normally, you’re only allowed to have up to 2 Signature moves in play.

Early on, using the 1 Crowd Point ability to search the Gear deck for the first Signature Submission move or first Signature Grapple move helps you get to that 2 Signature move limit faster.

You can’t pick and choose which move you’ll get from using this ability. If you’re a Grappler, you can’t skip the first Signature Submission move you find in order to seek out a Signature Grapple move for its Strong bonus. You’ll take the Signature Submission move and get its Average bonus if you bring it into play.

We recommend any deck searching be done from the bottom to speed things up.

The 3 Crowd Point ability allows this gimmick to exceed the 2 Signature move maximum. There is a finite number of Signature Submission and Signature Grapple moves in the Gear deck. So, you might see wrestlers with this gimmick trying to find as many of these moves as possible which might create tension between other Technician and Grappler players.

If you lose or discard this Gimmick, you will have to discard down to 2 Signature moves in play.
