Developer’s Notes
This gimmick is inspired by all the wrestlers who impersonate others.
When this Gimmick is in play, it adds 2 Crowd Points to the Event Pool during event setup.
This gimmick Event Pooladvanced one compared to the others since it relies on other gimmicks. It is not advisable to use this gimmick as your first, as you’re learning to play the game, or in solo mode.
The Copy Cat ability allows you to activate any other face up gimmick’s paid ability. This includes gimmicks that are on other players’ play mats or the top card of the Ring discard pile. In order to activate the ability, you need to spend one more Crowd Point than the actual gimmick does.
So, let’s say another player has the Athlete gimmick on their play mat. Impersonator could spend 2 Crowd Points to active the Athlete ability to search the Gear deck for the first non-weak Basic Move and take it to their hand. That particular use would not be considered an ongoing effect, and Impersonator could keep that card in their hand and even play it (providing they don’t exceed 3 Basic Moves in play).
To continue the example, let’s say Impersonator already has 3 Basic Moves in play. They decide to activate Athlete’s second ability for 3 Crowd Points to play a fourth Basic Move. This is considered an ongoing effect since it requires the gimmick to continue. After the event ends, Impersonator would have to discard down to 3 Basic Moves in play. They could choose to keep the new Move in play but discard an older one they had played earlier.
Other gimmicks, like Movie Star, Wealthy or Super Hero/Villain have no paid abilities. Therefore, Impersonator could not use any traits listed on those cards.
