Developer’s Notes
This gimmick is inspired by those wrestlers and movie personas that commanded animals – whether they be snakes, birds, ferrets, tigers, or bulldogs.
When this Gimmick is in play, it adds 3 Crowd Points to the Event Pool during event setup.
This is one of those gimmicks that has a special Attire card, Animal Companion. This card is not supposed to be shuffled into the Gear deck, but still counts as Gear.
Animal Companion has a gimmick requirement. No other gimmick can use or equip this slotless Attire. When you equip this card, you should create your animal idea and give them a name. It doesn’t have to be the animal depicted on the card. If you lose the Beast Master gimmick, the Animal Companion card is removed from the game and not placed in the Gear discard pile. If you or someone else becomes a Beast Master, Animal Companion will re-enter the game.
Animal Companion has two abilities, but since you have to tap-out the card to use an ability, you can only use one of those abilities per event (until we release an expansion card that allows you to untap a card).
This card can be used to either Stop a One-Shot in your match or ignore a DQ risk in your match. When you see choices like these, they should often be read like a sentence.
Tap-out to Stop a One-Shot or ignore a DQ Risk in your match.
The line spacing and bolded or statement don’t divide the abilities. You have to tap-out this card to use it, and either ability can only affect the events in your own match.
The Beast Master has a trait that grants them an extra Crowd Point during an interview. This is meant to represent the extra excitement created by the Animal Companion being present and is drawn from the Event Pool like the other interview Crowd Point rewards. Of course, if you end up with Trash Talk or Ringside Conflict, you still get nothing.
The 3 Crowd Point ability allows them to draw the top two cards in the Gear discard pile to their hand. This ability is similar to the Heel’s builtin ability. Strategically, this allows the Face Beast Master to draw from both Gear and Ring discard piles. While a Heel Beast Master has the ability to draw 1 Gear discard for 2 Crowd Points or 2 Gear discards for 3 Crowd Points (kinda like buy one, get one half off).
